For years I’ve told myself that someday I would like to give oil painting a try and for a long time I’ve have put it off for what ever reason. I guess when it came down to it I was a bit intimidated. I have always been pretty artistic but I normally have expressed this with graphic arts; both web and print.
So this last week I got a cheap paint set. The set include 6 tubes of paint a couple of brushes and a few other assorted tools. I did a couple of very small landscapes. I am not too proud of them… but I’m getting better with every stroke.
Here are a few of the resources I found helpful.
How to Paint Landscapes A short video series by Matt Cail that shows how to do a landscape with oil.
Yarnell Studio and School of Fine Art has some good Q&As worth a peek through.
All the Strange Hours A blog by David Rourke about visual arts.
So am I going to share my paintings online? I’m sure at some point soon I will but not just yet. I need more practice.
What are some of your favorite oil painting resources?
